About GADVASU, Ludhiana

 

Guru Angad Dev Veterinary and Animal Sciences University (GADVASU) was established at Ludhiana by an act of the Punjab Legislature No. 16 of 2005 on April 21, 2006 for promoting livestock production, health, and prevention of the disease through integrated teaching, research, and extension programme. It has six constituent colleges viz. College of Veterinary Science, Ludhiana; College of Veterinary Science, Rampura Phul; College of Dairy Science and Technology; College of Fisheries; College of Animal Biotechnology and Veterinary Polytechnic, Kaljharani along with three Regional Livestock Research and Training Centers and Krishi Vigyan Kendras each. The university also has two affiliated colleges (Khalsa College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Amritsar and Baba Hira Das Ji College of Veterinary Pharmacy, Badal, Sri Muktsar Sahib). The Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) has accredited the university with ‘A’ grade and ranked 1st and 7th among the Indian State Veterinary Universities and Agricultural Universities, respectively for year 201920.

About NAHEP and IDP at GADVASU

 

Institutional Development Plan (IDP) is one of the components of NAHEP (National Agricultural Higher Education Project) by ICAR with funding from the World Bank and Government of India. With assistance of IDP, GADVASU aims at filling existing gaps through capacity building and training of both students and faculty at various international platforms, updation of existing infrastructure, networking with industries and universities of national and international repute, promotion of skill development, seeding innovation amongst young minds, increasing employability and entrepreneurial outlook and adopting a revenue generation model for sustainability in long run.
